Just saying, the passenger cabin can't be that bad for a long trip.

Another benefit of a rental is snow driving. Will you be hitting any snow in your trip? Your SLK is probably as bad as my CLK on snow.

I spent my last New year holiday in Montreal and I had a rental for a week. They had a snow storm a few days earlier and there were piles and piles of snow in downtown streets. I was lucky that I had a FWD rental, my w209 would be stuck everywhere.
