What model is this...?

Hey all,

Just wondering if someone can help me ID this Benz. Pretty sure its a '96 but not sure on class. Also, the two-tone black and grey is throwing me off a bit.

Thanks

Are you after the W140 body style code?

Looks like a mid-90s E320. They came in that two-tone color, and had the slightly lower beltline.

Looks like a W124 E-Class but in that case it would be a 1995 or older. As of 1996 the E-Class became the W210.

That is an earlier S-Class and a sedan. If you have an SEC that is a coupe. We are talking about the W126 chassis which was produced in the '80s. The later S-Class chassis W140 began in about 1990. This is from memory so please don't quote me.

<edit> I just noticed MB also used the SEL designation on an even older S-Class, the W116 (1973-1980).

From the taillights and badge, it's a W140 S-Class similar to this one, except without side marker lamps.

It is not an SEL, but it looks similar.

The angle of the picture is confusing for sure. It does look like W140 to me too, but didn't MB abounded telescopic radio antennas before 1996?

This 1999 S500 still has the telescopic antenna.
