MBNA "Test & Service Center" ??

Hi Everyone -- I just purchased my fourth Mercedes but first W124: a beautiful 1995 E300 Diesel with only 116k miles! And now I have a mystery for everyone to help me solve from its history.

The car has the original window sticker, but on it there is typing that says "Car Used in Company Service". I was assuming it was a loaner car, then I looked in the service booklet, and the first two stamps after delivery (Inspection 800-3000 & Lubrication 7500) are stamped as "Mercedes-Benz of North America, Test & Service Center." Has anyone ever heard of this? I was thinking it may have been an exec driving it in Montvale? If it were just a regular loaner car, those stamps should have been from the actual dealer who was using it, right?

I was also able to get the VMI. The first two "repairs" were at dealer codes 00029 and 00015. Both of these occurred during the time period and mileage from when it was in "company service". All future VMI repairs and also service stamps are from the selling dealer who serviced it for the majority of its life. Does anyone have the "dealer codes" who could identify those two "dealers"? Any clue about the "Test & Service Center"? Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I dive into the history of my new car!

Years ago Studebaker had that exact same verbage on several cars. They were used as demonstrator police vehicles to various agencys. Can only assume MB was demonstrating E300's to....... <<shrug>> who knows
