1989 420SEL - Radio/Antenna not working for too long. Need help!

Hello Everyone! First time posting here. I'm not very knowledgeable about anything car related, so forgive me if I lack proper terminology. Hoping to learn a thing or two through this post.

I bought a 1989 420SEL 5 years ago as my first car. Before moving away to college, I had some body work done to the front right side door. While the shop was working on my car, they noticed the small rubber seal around the base of the antenna on the rear left side of the car was broken, and they were concerned about water leaking into my trunk, so they fixed the seal for free.

Before the body work, I didn't usually listen to the radio while I was in the car, so afterwards, it took me a while before I ever turned the radio back on. And by the time I discovered the problem, I was outside the warranty of the service they had done. And a phone call got me nowhere when I asked about it.

I really don't know if any of that information is necessarily important. But I think it might be, because here's my problem: ever since then, my radio has not worked. More accurately, it powers on, all of the buttons function properly, but my antenna doesn't raise when the radio powers on like it used to, and I have no sound coming through any of the speakers in my car. When I hit <Scan> on the radio, it just cycles endlessly through the radio frequencies as if no antenna is attached. I've pulled the radio out and looked at all of the wires on the harness as well as the antenna wire and there doesn't appear to be any issues there. And I've opened the trunk and pulled back the siding to look at the antenna assembly and I can't seem to find anything unplugged or in poor condition. Granted, I have been only minimally invasive thus far. I feel like I need some better insight before I go tearing through cables to find the issue.

The radio I have is an "Eclipse 4422"

So.. I've been driving in silence for a little more than 3 years. And I've finally had enough. I'm ready for some tunes! Can you all help me out? I'll answer any questions as best I can via photos or my best attempted description.

Thanks so much
