2012 C250 Check Brake Wear Light Still On After Replacing Brake Pads
I changed my front brake pads but my indicator light is still telling me to check the brake wear. Any ideas why?
I didn't replace the sensor because I thought it would only need to be replaced if it was no longer working (I assuming it is since the indicator is on - unless I'm thinking about this wrong).
Does it need to be replaced anyway? Is there something I need to do to reset the indicator? Something else...?
The only thing I can think of it may be is I could have put the sensor back incorrectly. The sensor is on the passenger side. When I took off those pads I didn't pay attention and didn't see which pad the sensor was grounded to: the pad on the inner side or the pad on the outer side of the wheel. The wire looked to be bent so it seemed to go to the inner side, but if I did that it looked like the piston in the caliper would rub against it, so that didn't seem right. So I stretched the wires to the sensor and grounded it to the outer pad. That seemed more logical to me and it made sense to me that it wouldn't matter which because they both provide a ground and are exactly the same.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
One thing, before just telling me to "just replace the sensor" I'd appreciate some explanation why that would be since, again, I thought I only had to do that if it wasn't working.
