Radiator for 1991 350sd

Need radiator for 1991 350sd. Prefer OEM part # 1265005303, but wondering if 1265002703 is a suitable part.

I welcome suggestions and solutions for a replacement radiator. HC

1265002703 is a reservoir. Please see item 2 in the diagram

You may find a much better price here. I use them a lot on older cars because the MB radiator is $460 list price. This place it is probably $120. Lifetime warranty on most of their items.

Wrong info

1265002703 is NOT a reservoir. (Unsurprisingly, the third-party website linked to above has incorrect information.) 1265002703 is simply the original part number for the 1986-87 300SDL radiator; it was superceded by 1265005303, which fits both the 300SDL and 350SD/L. Neither one is available anymore. This information is confirmed by two hours at my local dealer, who called the MB Classic Center on my behalf.

When I need a radiator for my 300SDL, I honestly don't know what I'll do. There are a few aftermarket manufacturers (radiatorpros.com and buyautoparts.com) that claim they have a radiator that will fit (19-01541 AN), but I am skeptical - AND their price has gone up to almost full MSRP of the MB part! Time to drop in a gas engine, perhaps...

Sorry about the wrong part info being listed. They get there database from EPC and then convert it for MB dealers using the Trademotion online sales program.
Please do not use buyautoparts.com or their eBay store. They sent an incorrect steering rack and pump and refused a return. All they wanted to do was have me pay more for "upgraded" ones. It took 3 months to have American Express charge them back and ship the parts to them.
That company does business under at least a dozen names. They are very slippery.
I found these for around $280 and have good luck with all the parts I have gotten for my 1990 W124. I have no experience with radiatorpros.com.

Excellent info! Yes, I found Buyautoparts.com extremely dodgy and got a bad feeling just looking at the poor web design (strangely similar to many others) and lack of information/photos very sketchy. Thanks for the tips.

I thought perhaps a 300SD radiator (1265003503) would work. The height and width for both are 538mm by 427/8mm. The configuration of the inlets/outlets and the oil cooler lines seem to be identical. However it is only 33mm thick versus 42mm for the 300SDL. This might not seem significant at first, but it means that the 300SD radiator has about two liters (2,090cc) less volume. Assuming 50% of that volume contains liquid (remainder being tubing), that's 10% less capacity - the entire system holds about 10.5 liters if I recall. Too risky IMO.

Well knowing the quality of the parts German Star sends the one they list for 1265003503 is probably a direct fit. I am sure if you contact them they can get the dimensions for you.

If it were my car that would be the first place I would buy one from.

As I stated above, I already have the dimensions of both radiators. To summarize my above comment, I believe the capacity of the thinner (but otherwise identical) 300SD radiator would be insufficient, and I am continuing the search.

I took the interior from a 350SD and put it in my 84 300SD. A guy asked me to pull the radiator for him from the 350SD and then didn't buy it. So I have it sitting around.

If interested let me know!
