MBStar 05.2013

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping someone could either point me in the right direction or help in some way.

I've just received my MBSTAR C3 and set up as best I can, the setup didnt however come with any software to generate keys for DAS,XENTRY and EPC/WIS.

I've scoured the web for keygens but the codes they generate don't work, I've seen tutorials on youtube on how to set up and the format of the DAS codes are completely different to the ones being generated (they need to be in format XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX)

Thanks in advance for any help/advice offered.

Did your setup come with a USB dongle? If not, the key you are after could be a Chinese software copy protection tool. Can you post a screen capture about the message you see?

Thanks for your reply,

I did not receive a USB key, just the C3 device and leads plus an external USB hard drive with the image on.

I have noticed though that in star utilities the lanid is different to that in the EWAnet screen. Using the LANid in star utilitiers it will allow me to save the key but still asks for it when opening das.

My setup is exacly the same as this:

I believe this case is solved but for future readers of this thread, the HW fingerprint part is not part of an original Star diagnosis setup, this is something a Chinese seller adds to prevent copies of their hard drives. This copy protection can be removed easily. Some use a USB dongle for the same thing, that too can be removed.

The LanID from starutilities is a synthetic ID that is created when Star software is installed the first time to a computer. The EWA NET "Lan-ID" is actually the MAC address of the active network interface, quite confusing to call that Lan-ID as at starutilites.

By the way, one should try to avoid this virtual machine approach if at all possible. In most cases the laptop is anyway assigned for the diagnosis tool only and a native win xp setup can be used.

I plan to do this myself, but again, examples would be useful.
