Benefits on synthetic oils
For those who switched older cars from dino to synthetic oils - did you notice any benefits?
I did on my 1998 MB notice lowering oil consumption, but that was always combined with other work, so can't give the credits to synthetic oil alone, but 2 years ago I bought Ford Powerstroke with close to 300,000 miles. The engine is having unique system where motor oil is compressed to high pressures to power injectors in the lack of injection pump.
So after the purchase the engine was loosing prime in high pressure oil pump, what made me cranking it for long time each time I parked it for longer than 3 days.
Now, 2 years/20k miles later, on synthetic Rotella T6- I had the truck parked for 3 weeks and it started in couple of seconds.
If that is not synthetic improving the seals, I don't know what it is.
