Thank you Hookah_John for responding and providing honest and accurate feedback about the service we provided for your C230 Mercedes. Hopefully, most members will be able to figure out portlandnick's intentions.

Now to shed some light on the issue concerning the C230 Mercedes 2003 - 2005. What happens is the cam sensor will leak oil and the oil will wick up the harness and eventually find it's way into the ecu control unit. This is most common for part numbers starting with A271 . Once oil gets on the board it's very difficult to repair. Oil will destroy most of the components rendering the ecu completely useless. One of the first signs of failure is loss of communication.

Unfortunately, this is one of the only control units that we can not flash program out of circuit. So this unit will have to be programmed in the vehicle and adapted with Star diagnostics / Xentry for Mercedes Benz. We will have to provide a blank control unit A2711538779 and you will have to go to a Mercedes dealer or find a shop that has the proper tools. This may not be an easy task depending on your area.

If any members in this forum need assistance with troubleshooting a faulty BOSCH / SIEMENS ECU feel free to contact us anytime.

I just got my 05 E320 CDI discontinued ecu back, that had water damage in it. ECU TECH did great, didn't talk to that character, talked to a gent named kelly or kelley, and all worked out great. fast turn around, price was as quoted, good packaging, no complaints.

Know this is an old thread, but had a customer scammed by ecu technologies. Customer had them rebuild his ecu, got it back it never worked, finally brought the car to us, in checking we found a faulty ecu, it was returned to ecu technologies under warranty, after many months (approx 18 months) and many phone calls customer finally got upset and sold car to another of my customers, after many calls to find out where the ecu was and why it wasn't returned, they now are saying they called original customer who told them he sold it, they now refuse to warranty the defective unit they returned, and refuse to even send it back.
Stay away these guys will do anything to get out of a warranty issue.
