Questions after looking over my VMI

I bought a used CLK350 and looking over the VMI, I have questions that I now realize I should have asked the salesman. Better late than never, so here they are:

1. Under CAMPAIGNS/C1 Action, it says CAM SOLENOID CLOSED 09/06/2012. Any ideas what exactly that means?

2. Under Service Packages, it has TirePlus and Siri A. What are these and are they transferrable to me the new owner?

3. The car is MY2008 CPO, but did not get all recommended services performed like change spark plugs after 91k miles or 5 yrs and change fuel filter after 65k miles or 5 yrs. Now the car only has 24k miles, but was purchased by the 1st owner 6 yrs ago. Do I have a case if I take it to a dealer close to my house and ask them to do these services?

Thanks in advance for considering these issues.

Mark

1. It had an open cam solenoid, and they closed it. Sorry, couldn't resist.

My guess is that it has to do with the variable valve timing.

Can't help you with this one.

You can ask your dealer or any dealer for that matter to do it but the cost is still your responsibility, if that's what your asking. Routine maintenance is not covered under the warranty.

Thanks in advance for considering these issues.

Sky-Pilot, I understand that routine maintenance is my resposnibility, but isn't it the responsibility of the certifying dealership to bring the CPO vehicle to a "current" state with regard to all routine maintenance. So if a service was due, but they failed to do it, they should correct that. Right?

OP here with an update. I finally emailed salesman. Though he was very helpful pre-sale. Not so much post-sale. Maybe he's really busy. Anyhow after not getting an email response after several days, I called and talked to a guy in the Service dept.

I started by asking about the certifying process and if they bring cars to current. He said that it was indeed part of the process. I then told him my situation. So now he wants to research the issue and will have the salesman get back in touch with me.

I'll keep you posted....

So, after the Service Manager admitted to me that the fuel filter and spark plugs were missed during the certyfing process, they are only willing to change the plugs. They say there is no reason to change to fuel filter.

My question is does this sound reasonable that the filter, being 5 1/2 yrs old with 24k miles, does NOT need changing?

It's most likely just the cam solenoid wiring extension campaign. Take a look at the cam solenoids in the front of the motor and see if the harness connected to them have extensions secured with zip ties. "Closed" just means it was performed.

With a CPO all service/maintenance thats due within 6 months or 5k miles must be done. Depending on your models' recommended service intervals the filter may or may not be due, your next step is to find your maintenance sheet or ask the dealership for one.

Our ML320 after spending 13 years/126k miles in the family got sold with factory fuel filter if that is what you are asking about..
Yet if the service book says max 5 years, you have the edge
