okay thanks for the tip

On the chance that Noodles sees this I want to report that I took the car into a MB dealer and they retested and their report to me says "code P2086-002 stored for self adaptation in mass airflow sensor" and they say "if CEL comes back on MAF needs replacing". Light DID come back on. Apparently no code 0170 and 0173 as before.

My mechanic says it was a genuine MB MAF he used but I note on it a sticker which indicates it is a remanufactured part.

So the dealer wants me to replace the MAF before doing anything else. What I want to know is ...what does that code mean and if it's NOT the MAF what else could it be?

Should I buy another MAF and make sure it's genuine and have it installed?

Also, how can I transfer this thread to the W210 forum?

Thanks

I would just repost the thread in the W210 forum.

There is no such thing as a genuine remanufactured MB MAF your mechanic should replace it with a Bosch and credit the price of the failed part back towards the Bosch. Also he made the choice to use a substandard part. If he really believes there is a genuine MB reman MAF ask what dealer he got it from.

The Bosch 0280217515 is the exact part MB sells. It is a lot less money and will work perfectly. It is $144 at autohausaz.com
Be careful with a lot of the ones that are $35-$40 cheaper at places like eBay. They could be knock offs.
