Well, after several years of Mustang ownership, following several years of driving supercharged Miatas and being now in my "golden years", I traded my '03 Mustang in for a '98 SL500 with just 53k miles on it. The top and hydraulics were replaced in Decembear r of 2012 and other than a few missing interior plastic bits (A/C vent controls and the center console armrest latch button) it is in near 100% condition.
Quite pleased so far, and somewhat surprised as to the availability and cost of spares. Also, I looked at a couple of similar vintage XK8s with various issues and have been impressed by how much easier the SL500 is to "wrench"--Mercedes put much more thought into future repairs than did Jaguar.
I look forward to being as active here as I was on the Mustang forums...
