Question i really need a new engine wiring harness??

Hi Everyone,
Wonderful forum you have here. Ive learnt a lot already. So heres my problem that ill be needing help with. I bought a 95 c180 elegance just 2wks ago. This is my dream car and driving it is a pleasure! UNTIL....a male friend saw some wires that apparently were in poor shape. He replaced wiring, the ones that connect to fuel injectors...I had no idea this was happening so I really don't know the entire story..but the new wiring wasn't replaced in correct order so the car wont start. I had my poor merc towed home today. A mechanic said I need a "new engine harness"..he barely looked at it! how do I know if I do? at $1650 id like to be sure! Im thinking of buying a new wiring loom to see if it just the new wiring job that wasn't colour coded etc may be the problem..i don't have gazillions to spend so im reading and trying to learn.. I don't want to be another woman ripped off by mechanics.
Any Advice for me?Please& thanks for reading.

You know you need a new harness when your "friend" messes up the wires that the engine control unit uses to control the fuel injectors. If he doesn't know what he did wrong so that he can undo it, how do you expect a real mechanic to fix it?

I advise you to import one directly from the USA or Europe. I know a dealership in the US with a good parts department that can send you a new harness for US$740 + shipping (less than $100). ELECTRIC CABLE. ENGINE CABLE HARNESS, C/CLK-CLASS. 1995 Mercedes C 220 Sedan # 2025403132

The C180 was never sold in the US, so although the website doesn't list your specific model, they can still order any part in the MB system. Give them your VIN to confirm.

Welcome to the forum.
