Best diagnostic program for amateur use?
These days you can get a program to use with your smart phone, tablet or laptop that will allow you to download the trouble codes off your Mercedes or any other car, I would think one of these would be a must for any car owner.
Wonderful for checking out a car you are thinking of buying, or when the check engine light comes on, should you stop right away or can you keep driving? When you take the car to a garage it would be great to have some idea what you are up against before you take it in. And that is just for the guys and gals who do not do their own work.
I use an old HP laptop and a program called Laplogger that I bought in 2009 because it was cheap.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good program? Also what about Mercedes own 38 pin interface, should I buy a new cable or will the old 16 pin do? How much extra info can you get out of the Mercedes interface?
