Problems w low beams e430

3 out of 4 of my low beams do not turn on but all 4 of the high beams work. One mechanic told me this may b a fuse issue b/c when he went to replace the bulb it was still dark. Can anyone shed light on what I'm looking at for costs here? thanks

And this rocket scientist of a mechanic did not check the fuses?

Fuse inspection is 10-15 minutes. Fuses are 50¢ apiece.

There's lots more to this onion than meets the (teary) eye.

What kind of customized front end do you have on this car?

From the factory it left with the following lights in the front:

2 Low beams
2 High beams
2 City Lights
2 Fog lights
2 Turn signals

The first thing I'd do is find another shop, one that specializes in MB. The W210 had a problem with the harness connectors on the headlights, so that may be all your issue is. That said, anyone who is an MB specialist would KNOW that, and they'd also know what to do to rectify the issue.

Good luck.

PS: Posting in the general section about specific cars isn't usually all that useful. If you come down to the W210 section -- the one that is specific to your chassis -- you'll find a wealth of information about the car, including the lights.
