Hello everyone, my wife and I just purchased our first Mercedes and our first diesel, and we couldn't have asked for a better start! Last week we purchased a 1984 Orient Red 300TD wagon from its original owner, an 86 year-old man who bought the vehicle brand new when he was 57. It is in fabulous shape, being garaged its whole life and only driven a few hundred miles a year since 1992. ODO at purchase was 106,049!
We immediately drained the old diesel, cleaned the screen, replaced the fuel filters, changed the oil, brake fluid, coolant, and transmission/TC fluid and filter, plus replaced some leaky fuel lines and fuel hand pump. The photos are fresh from the detailing shop as the previous owner let her go a bit on the outside.
Now she only needs the a/c charged, new glow plugs, some front-end components replaced, and a couple new seals to be in tip-top shape.
We're excited to take her on a couple road trips this summer, the few times we've had her out on the highway had us grinning from ear to ear!
I think we're in love and we're going to cherish and enjoy this wagon for decades to come.
I've been lurking in various forums trying to learn as much as possible before the purchase, but now it is time to join the club and become a contributing member of the community. Cheers!
