1986 SL 560 needs help
my name is Luca, i live in Italy.
Years ago, when i was in USA, I bought a 1986 SL 560 USA model; recently i shipped this car to my Italian Home..
I started a big restoration. Car was diasassembled, cleaned, metal works done, paint job done, interior cleaned and leather is all new.
I did a complete job on brakes, because they were "frozen".
I changed motor oil, filter, fuel filter, air filter, and spark plugs.
I cleaned fuel tank, fuel distributor, and throttle body.
After this, engine started but was idling too fast and rough, so i discovered a problem with a broken fuse on ovp relay and a frozen idle valve. Replaced fuse and idle valve.
Now car starts immediately, idle speed is correct but still rough.
The biggest problem is when i try to accelerate.. the engine stalls immediately.
This happens even if i try to manually depress the metering plate connected to the distributor.
I looked for a vacuum leak. But none found. Rubber is in good shape everywhere.
The exhaust is clean, no smoke, no smell.
Can you give me some suggestions?
Thanks for your help
