Always been a gearhead, but always U.S. domestic cars, GM basically. Long story short, after finally meeting my father after 28 years of not knowing him, turns out we are basically the same! True gearheads with the love of all cars. I have a 1982 Cutlass as my play toy and a couple Pontiac Bonnevilles as daily drivers as well as a Chevy truck for hauling etc...
My dad happened to have a 1985 380SE that he kept talking about how much he loved it but he hasn't driven it in years. Finally he brought it up to my house so we could play with it and get it driving again.
The car is very solid, but also quite neglected
Has been sitting so long the paint is horribly oxidized, interior is in need of some heavy duty detailing and restoration, and likely tons of other work as well.
The detailing and paint restoration is no problem for me, the big thing right now is the engine burning oil, but I will save that post for the right forum
Here is the car as it arrived last summer.
Getting it washed up, it was trashed really bad!
50/50 shot of the roof, unwashed / washed
Under the hood
This injection system still completely fascinates me!
Working on the paint some to bring it back to life, a few test spots.
Forgive me for the long winded introduction, I am pretty excited to eventually get this car back on it's feet and looking great again like he had it years ago. Unfortunately, working 60+ hours a week and trying to fit family time in, as well as keeping up with 3 or so acres of grass and maintaining four vehicles will make this a very slow process, but it will happen as time goes by! Looks like a ton if great info here, looking forward to getting to know you guys!
