WIS installation: error code 42, attach database fail

Install of WIS on Windows 7 (32bits) fails at Test new database. I get "Installation of the WIS database has failed!" error and log shows "Error in attaching ROM files to database file "_TMP__wisnet" in to WIS net Transbase! Error code was 42."

Ewa admin is set to run in compatibility mode of WinXP SP2 and as an admin. EWA and EPC are installed and functional.

Log shows this, error popup attached:

Code:

On WIN7 you should not need other additional actions but turning UAC off and run the installation with admin rights. If this fails, perhaps your DVDs are not good.

Thanks, I have read that UAC off is needed just for DAS. For WIS and EPC it should be ok confirming each action. However with UAC on or off I get the same result. EPC installs, WIS does not.

Open the EWA Admin Tool and re-install the WIS database.

If that doesn't work, run the VBS script to clean the install and start all over again, but use the EPC disc to install the EWA software.

It is not a UAC issue for WIS or Win 7 issue. The latest WIS is written to install and run on Win 7.
His source data from the installer is corrupt.

I've only installed these on WIN7 and never needed the VBS script but I've understood it would not work on WIN7 any more.

The advice to install EWA from the EPC DVD is well known but I've done it several times starting from WIS DVDs and never had problems. Does not harm to do it from EPC though, perhaps solves a rare case that I have not faced.

Vbs does not work for me on Windows 7. Ewa commands /cleanwis, /cleanepc do work.

I was not able to install Ewa from EPC disks so far. Installing Ewa from WIS, then installing EPC, then WIS leads to same error for WIS. EPC and Ewa runs fine.

WIS DVDs, or this version was corrupted. Installing different WIS db solved the issue. Thanks to you all
