I just turned captain, I'm '06 in our academy. i know how to fix my guns, but in terms of household changing a light bulb is about as far i ever went! I never was very helpful at home. I just got my first car barely a month ago - partly to get out of my comfort zone, and partly for a graduate degree i'm taking in a city 73 miles from here. I sure hope i could get as handy as your son before I build own home.

Congratulations captain.
Funny part you never know how the life turns around.
My son hated car works on his first few cars, but since I forced him to learn basics, soon enough he figured out that giving up his weekly wages for brake pads job makes no economical sense.
So he graduated as a geologist, but now after few years is thinking about changing the carrier and become ..... diesel mechanic.
Being in Army Reserve will get him some monthly support, but still I am scratching my head about him quitting his decent job and go back to school.... to do something he never liked before.

Hahahaha! that's funny how you even force him into it, and now he wants to make a career out of it! amazing what a father can do sometimes. I could remember my sister, an english major, she once asked dad what he was doing. Dad said he was amazed with MS Paint and he showed her how to make simple shapes. Not long after my sister sat for hours in front of the PC drawing increasingly complex stuff. She now has a masters degree in programming and handles the systems of several asian banks.

In my case I really want to learn working on a car. I already ordered myself a set of tools, some of which i don't even have the slightest idea how to use! haha. I'll update about my door locks. meanwhile i still have to man up a little more before i could get off that door panel.
