2013 C250 passenger window replacement cost

Hi

I am new to this forum and this is first MB vehicle Someone broke into my car by smashing front passenger window I took it to the MB dealer at my place (Charlotte, NC) today and he gave me a rough estimate of 1500 (700 labor + 800 parts cost) for replacing the window and the frame that holds the window. I left it at his place but feel that his quote is unreasonable. I would like to know your thoughts / suggestions.

FYI: I have insurance with 21st century and absolutely have no idea how much they will refund. I am on a $500 deductible.

Thanks!

Definitely less at an indie body shop.

You are going to pay the $500 no matter where you take it. But since you have comprehensive I would take it to the best place you know of. If you trust your dealer I would let them have the job. Since you are new to MB, be forewarned that the dealers are almost always the most expensive place to take your car for anything.

Thanks for your advises. They were helpful and I ended up going with the dealer as it is a leased vehicle and I am bound to go with authorized dealer.

I got a call from my Insurance guy on Friday. He spoke to the dealer and looks like the dealer is going to give a quote of upto $5,000 which includes new glass for passenger window, rime that holds the window and fixing some damage done to the motor below seat because of glass pieces being struck in it. My insurance is only going to pay what ever a body shop pays and not what the dealer quotes. I don't know how much of it I will end up paying. Can any of you advise on what I can do if there is a big gap between the two quotes?

Body shops can write up mechanical fixes like the glass stuck in the seat motor.
Any mechanical damage caused by an accident or theft is fully covered if it is written up
by the body shop and the insurance adjuster is notified. Ask the dealer to have a mechanic come over to the body shop part of the building and double check the car.
He may or may not find anything to add. It sounds like they did a thorough inspection.

It wasn't that bad after all. Total quote was for $1,990. We paid $490 out of pocket and insurance company paid the rest. And, I should say that I am totally satisfied with their work. Thanks everyone for your inputs.
