Odd fault

I have an odd fault with my UK 2005 E220 Diesel with the Command System. Basically it keeps randomly shutting down so everything stops working, radio, CD, Aux, Sat Nav.

And when I mean randomly I mean randomly sometimes it does it every few minutes and sometimes it will work fine for days! However I've notice that when the power to the Command System goes the dash board safe, cubbie hole (the draw the comes out above the ashtray below the Command System) also stops operating.

This makes me think its not the Command System that's faulty but some connecting wiring for them both.

I have taken the dash apart and cannot see what connects the draw and the Command System. If any of you guys know where I should start looking or can give me any pointers that would be very appreciated

Thank you in advance.

When that happened to me it was the AGW (audio gateway).

It was replaced with a genuine MB rebuilt part from the dealer and been fine ever since.
However they used the MB star computer to diagnose and then code it to my vehicles audio options.

The can randomly shut down for other reasons and if the COMAND is indeed faulty then the best bet is to get one from a breaker and make sure you get the original car's VIN and the COMAND has a serial number on it so a dealer can install it with the correct numbers needed.
