Hi from San Diego, CA

I am new to the BenzWorld forum. It's great to see such a collection of knowledge and expertise!

I have a 1995 E320 W124 Cabriolet. What a SWEET convertible.

Two present issues:

1.) Very heavy throttle. I've also driven several 450SL and 560 SL's, and they also had this issue, I'm wondering if it were designed this way. Have to press the accelerator a lot harder than I'm used to, to get the car to move forward. Though once it starts, it's nice, smooth, and powerful. Maybe all MBs are this way, and I just have to get used to it? I wouldn't mind going in and cleaning out the entire throttle linkage, lubing it, and maybe even putting a counter-spring on it to lessen the pedal force. Can this be done? Where can I find diagrams of the throttle pedal linkage?

2.) Seats are showing their age. They are Parchment color. I would like to reupholster them (not just seat covers but real upholstery). I've reupholstered a few other cars, but not a MB. Is there a good upholstery vender you all can recommend? Maybe just front seats (with headrests), or maybe front and back both. And possibly new seat pads, depending on what I find when I open them up.

Thanks all!

Welcome, Acorn. Did you by any chance buy your car in Rancho Bernardo? Pics are always nice too.

I'm rather new myself, but in my 6 months one thing I can recommend, don't bother with the seats or pedal yet. You have to work out all the bigger problems, and if you still find yourself owning and loving the car, then it's time for that stuff. But you might spend 5-10k before you get to that point, depending on the condition of the car.
