Need advice. Should I make this trade?!?

I have a 2002 CLK320 convertible with 74,000 miles, looking at a 2002 S500 with 159,000 miles. Would it be a good or bad idea for me to trade straight up my CLK for the s500? Bad trade or good trade? Im thinking the dealership is willing to trade straight up, should I ask for some cash as well since the s500 has double the miles my CLK has?

An S-Class with the large engine is tempting but the miles would concern me. At the very least I would ask for the service history, probably impossible from a car lot, and have a competent pre-purchase inspection done. I have also read on here the early (2000-2003) S500 had some bugs that the later ones did not because they were worked out.

Have a look at the W220 S-Class forum found in the sedans section.

S500 is gas-guzzler and those don't sell those days, that is probably why dealer can go for straight trade.
Do you need gas-guzzler?
You did not say what is your motivation for considering a trade in the first place.

More space but im thinking of just staying put with the CLK320. This was one of those low end, trashy used car lots. Car was sitting so long they had to charge the battery to start it. Had a mess of issues.
