So is the battery light constant or flashing?
If it's constant, the battery is not being charged. You should drive to a workshop immediately unless you think you can fix it at home. You won't be able to drive until it's fixed.
If it's flashing, it is intermittently not charging. You could possibly drive for longer, but failure is inevitable. If the alternator seems OK, the voltage regulator (attached to the alternator) can frequently go bad.
