81' 240D hole in engine block by timing chain!?
After painting the engine back and changing the Valve Cover gasket, I put the engine back in. It started with 3 problems: crankcase pressure (never occurred before: the oil cap flies away when I untighten it during the engine is running), the engine revvs a lot while on the idle and incredible oil spill when the engine is running.
Brought it to the garage and they told me the timing chain scraped against the block, which caused a hole in it. The tell me I need a new block. I don't understand how the timing chain did that even if I never touched it!
Now what do I do? Do you have any miracle solution?
If not: I really want to keep the mint body of the car. What engines would fit this 1981 240D bolt-on while keeping its 4 speed manual transmission
