Electrical Issues

1. Recently I had some water spill in the back seat of my '05 C230 Kompressor. Immediately after, the SRS light came on the dash and I received a display about the Seatbelt Restraint System and it says to take my car to the shop. Note that I was transporting about 20 gallons of water in the back seat (no seatbelts were fastened), so I'm guessing that there's a sensor back there like the one that's in the passenger seat. Only about a gallon of water spilled in the car.

2. A couple of days later, my front drivers and passengers windows will not automatically go up when I pull up the switch all the way through the click. The back ones go up hands free, but the front ones don't. Same problem with the sunroof. However the sunroof will only open about an inch at a time.

Thoughts?

I just responded to your other post about the water. The seat belt buckles are part of the srs system and when there is a collision, the buckles will pull tight to hold the passengers in tighter. If the water got into any of the buckles, they will need to be replaced. As for the windows, the most likely need to be resynched. They window switches have 2 positions, regular and one touch closing. Hold the switch in the manual up position until the window raises all the way. Hold it for a few seconds after it reaches the top and that will resynch it. Try the same for the sunroof, but usually when it inches its way closed, you need to get the Mercedes scanner and relearn the roof obstruction sensor. Sorry for the long post but let me know if any of this works

Thanks Saleen. I'll try the windows reset and see if it works. I had a mechanic reset the SRS error and it has not come back on after approx 70 miles. Thanks for the detailed explanation and sorry for the delay in replying. The benzworld reply notification went to my spam box.

Moder electronic boards are sealed with epoxy or similar stuff and are pretty much bulletproof.
you are not the first one that experienced after drying everything up and resetting the codes everything goes back to normal.
Hope you got good price from your mechanic as CA shops start the charges for hooking up to computer at about $150.
Lastly I have to ask. Why da hell did you carry so much water in the first place and why did you not secure it for transport?
