Modify Bluetec Technology of ML 320 2009 model

Can somebody help.

I imported a Bluetec ML320 to Africa for my use. Unknown to me I discovered that the sulfur content of the diesels sold in Africa is too high and as such can potentially damage my car. I approached my my local Mercedes garage where I was initially informed that they could tropicalise, by modifying the bluetec. When the application was sent to Germany, Mercedes Germany refused to give permission. When I complained, I was informed by a representative from Mercedes Germany that it is not technically possible to convert Bluetec to blue efficiency models commonly found in Africa. I doubt the sincerity of this statement. I understand that all, that is required for the modification is is to put in a new exhaust system and reconfigure the control unit.Is there anybody with any technical knowledge about the bluetec who can advise?

You mean you want somebody to be smarter than Mercedes engineers?
We do have a member who imported AMG model to Africa where premium fuel is not available and he drives, or at least drove it for years just fine.
So is it the engine reliability that you worry, or environment?

Thanks for your reply. i am actually worried about the engine, and initially my locall mercedes workshop assured me that the modification could be done, but somebody in germany has stopped them from doing it.

Your car is out of warranty right? So what's the deal on refusing the modification?
Than even you did not disclosure the country, you are far away from Germany and bribes work in each country.

The ECU needs remapped and the exhaust system upgraded. The cars fitted with a diesel particulate filter that should be removed and remapped out.

You'll get better mpg but worse particulate emissions and NOx

Current Merc: 2009 C220cdi sport estate
Prev Merc: 2005 E320cdi sport
