I'm so glad it was easy to join, however I don't feel new to benzworld....I've been surfing these threads for weeks already.
I hope to learn as much as I can so that I can eventually be one who also helps answer questions as well! I know that if it's humanly possible, I can probably do it.
So a little about me...I'm 26, a mom, wife, and the daughter of a mechanic. But oddly enough I know very little about mechanics and now I wish I knew more!
My first "self bought" car was a 2006 Chevy aveo and it was repossessed a year ago. Sad yes, but I didn't love that car, and the price tag plus interest was way to much to be my dream come true. Seven long months later I found a 2001 Chevy cavalier with a melted head gasket for $400. My dad fixed it and we bought a new battery for a total investment of $600. But I had my heart set on an older diesel Mercedes. So six months later I traded even for a 1981 240D.
I love it and I'm not giving it back to that kid...he had no idea what he was doing. I admit I don't know much about cars, but I know more than he did. Like dont over fill the tranny fluid, and that you should use the correct air filters. I feel that I did save this car from a worse fate but there are still a lot of things I need to learn. The vacuum system is fascinating, but it's also not been done properly. I know I will be asking plenty of questions in the future and hope my thirst for knowledge can be quenched.
