Engine Temp Runs @ 100 Celsius Idling
I have a 1999 E-320 Base model. Recently, it has had the radiator replaced, cooling system flushed, transmission filter replaced and fluid replaced.
The radiator fan has a two-wire plug and I am told this means it has 2 speeds. While I am driving, the engine temperature stays around 80 degrees centigrade.
However, when I am idling, the temperature moves to about 95 centigrade. I have a feeling that the fan is not switching to the higher speed because there is some electrical problem with the car prompting the fan to switch to the speed 2.
Has anyone had this problem before?
This vehicle has about 118,000 miles and has been well-maintained in the past.
I would greatly appreciate anyone's thoughts so I can decide whether to take it to a mechanic or take it to an electrical shop instead.
Thanks in advance!
