Don't know why did YOU order expensive oil since Mobil1 can be bought for about $7 a quart and I am buying Mann filters on line for $9
BTW Mercedes require service that involves much more than oil change. Are you neglecting your car and taking it to JiffyLube or similar?

Well No i take it to mechanic that i know, What do you mean by more service? i drive it 3,000 miles a year. Well i guess he added a price in with the oil since he listed it as 14.50 per quart and 7 quarts.

So you know the mechanic and than you accuse him of ripping you off?
Check with your manual, or your model section as the oil weight is not matching the oils I know are recommended.
Driving 3000 miles a year you probably do oil change on time basis?
Still car that is parked a lot does suffer from aging and proper inspection is even more important than on car driven daily where you'd notice something out of order right away.

Unless I pick up Mobil 1 0W40 on sale, 8.5 quarts plus fleece filter costs me about $70. You cant expect your mechanic to work and only make $10 profit (if that).
I am curious what "extended" means?

Have you changed your air filter recently? Have the fuel filter, plugs, wires been changed according to the service intervals? I assume that with the preventative maintenance, your mechanic is at least referring to the air filter. With cars that are not drive a lot, I believe it is a good idea to change the oil at least once a year.

A proper service should include inspecting breaks, belts, hoses, fluid levels (coolant, transmission, power steering, washer, battery ...) light bulbs, cv boots, look for any kind of leak that's just off the top of my head. It's not that inspecting these things takes a long time or should cost a lot. But what I find odd about your bill is the oil & filter seem expensive (and there could be some sort of recycle fee built into that price - although typically it's a separate fee) while the labor seems cheap.

$28 is how much time? 15 minutes? Maybe enough time.

Call your local MB dealer and ask them how much they charge for an oil change on your car ("C Service" - I think). Ask them to break down parts and labor (the service manager will know these numbers off the top of his head). If they come in less than $150 you'll have your answer.

Actually it took over an hour he inspects it good to make sure everything is doing good like tire tred, coolant, brakes, and much more i just didn't put that in my opening post because i just wanted to include just the oil change.

But on ebay it says that kind of oil is about $10 so if he charging me $4 per quart thats only an extra $30 sneaked in there.

The lubro-moly/liqui-moly 5W40 is on the list of approved oils.

Oldtimer, it doesn't sound like it was just an oil change since the bill notes chassis inspection and preventative maintenance. It sounds more like a basic A service, which at most dealers is around $200.

My GF doesn't drive her car too much more than you, and though she's due for a service, (B in her case) I'll be doing it for her. But the oil change will definitely happen because as Kajtek1 notes, there is a time issue with oil, not just mileage. Moreover, if you're accumulating that small a mileage with mostly shorter trips, that's severe service, so the oil isn't going to last as long anyway.

Good luck.
