Extended warranty-worth it? S350 34k miles

Hello everyone. New to the site and thanks In advance for comments and advice. I just purchased a 2006 s350 with only 34k miles. Super clean car fax. Considering i spent 22k would it be worth spending an extra $4300 for an almost bumper to bumper style warranty? Im told that the Platinum extra care warranty from the Toyota motor company is a leader in the industry. The warranty would start at current mileage and date and go another 3 yrs or 36k miles. Considering it would also be financed there is the interest charges to consider as well.

I will say that I have put 1200 miles on the car and its drives perfect. However an issue just came up which has me thinking. My dome lights flicker and the key fobs stopped working unless pointed straight at the drivers door handle. I believe based on info i found on this forum its an easy fix by replacing the pcb in the dome light assembly which I can purchase used for about 75 dollars but have not since I currently have a warranty so to speak.

Here is where it gets interesting.

The preowned dealership I bought from (and was suppose have good customer service) told me that the warranty is not valid for thirty days after purchase (the period in which I can cancel by the way) however two reps at the warranty company told me its active from date of purchase. The dealer just needs to send over the contract to them to avoid delays. The dealership tells me wait keep or bring the car in to there service center and they would only charge me half cost to get any repairs completed now. Really? This dealership seems as shady as they come to me. Just what are they up to? Do they just need to clear the cancellation period for there commission?

Thoughts on what to do?

welcome. it sounds like you found a diamond in the rough on an 06 s-class with ONLY 34K miles. it appears the previously enjoyed owner used the vehicle as weekend car only. anyhoo... i'm a proponent of the extended warranty. clearly, the dealership shows less interest in its reputation and world class service and significantly more on personal profit.
i just purchased an extended warranty and my service guy told me to visit a month out if it's something that's not of mechanical issue. it wasn't. if it's something you can just wait on and tolerate the flickering or the key issue, i would rather than spending the extra $$$. good luck and welcome (again).
