Hello fellow Mercedes-Benz Fanatics,
My name is Aco and I live in Wisconsin, U.S.A.
I have always loved MB's since I was a child because father had a 1976 Mercedes 450SE 4.5L Euro-Spec that he shipped over to the U.S.A. when he emigrated. It was DOT-converted and all.
My father loves the car, but he is a very busy man and is working hard to support our family here in the states. I am very blessed to have such a great father and mother, and I would like to give back to them by restoring my father's 450SE. It has a few mechanical issues and some areas have some pretty bad rust. I am looking forward to starting to work on it this spring and summer. I do not have a lot of money, but I am willing to get dirty and use some elbow grease whenever it is necessary.
I do not have a ton of experience working on cars, but I have little more than a basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and changing parts. Working on cars is my favorite hobby and I am looking forward to enjoying it my entire life.
Well enough about me, here are a few pictures of the car that I took a while back. I will look to get more pictures once the weather gets better here.
And would somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe my father's car has a "Lorinser" body kit:
Sportservice Lorinser | Lorinser S-Klasse W116 and W221
If it does.......
I also just bought a 1976 Mercedes 450SEL, which I believe is the 4.5L. The 6.9L's have the oil filler cap on the passenger side really close to the fender, correct? It is being shipped from another state at the moment, so I will hopefully have more pics and updates on that vehicle soon.
Thanks for checking out my post! Looking forward to learning a lot and seeing other people's builds and restorations!
