What is this part?

Hello All

I have a 1986 MB 560 SEL that has a missing plug causing a leak from a part mounted on the front of the engine below and to the left of the power steering pump - unfortunately I do not know what that part is. I am guessing that it is a pump of some kind.

It appears to be connected to the hydraulic fluid reservoir by a hose that runs under the power steering pump then becomes a metal line that loops up and back into the top of the part. The reservoir is to the right (driver's side) of the power steering pump. When I add fluid to the reservoir filler top and start the engine, that fluid comes out a threaded hole on the passenger's side of the part in question. I am not sure if the threaded hole is merely missing a plug or there is another line that has entirely disappeared.

Can anyone tell me what the component is and if it just needs to be plugged?

Thanks!

Pics available, but may not have attached properly.

Welcome to Benzworld, that is the pump for the suspension. Not sure what is missing though. And the forum for your model is;

Unhappy Thanks

Thank you very much Eric - your drawing should be helpful when I get to the parts counter. It looks like there must be a line missing. Best Regards
