New Merc Owner - Extended Warranty

Hi

Just bought a 2007 S500 with 70k miles FMBSH. The independent dealer has given it a 3 month warranty but it's cover is very limited. I got a quote from Mercedes authorised warranty co. and they wanted between £3k-£5k/yr for full cover depending on level of cover and excess. Don't think so sonny jim far too much wonga. WarrantyWise appear to have the best reviews and offer a 2 year unlimited cover for £1.35k/yr. Autoexpress mag rate them!?

Please can I have some recommendations on whether to even have a warranty and if so any experience on whose good or best to avoid. I've seen posts on warranty issues which have given some insights but would appreciate advice specific to my model of car, age mileage etc.

Thanks

Maybe we all do all our own work. But for me my car is far too old (1973). Still if you think about it is only insurance. They make money by charging more on average than they pay out. That doesn't mean it's a bad deal for you necessarily.

So why is this guy so much cheaper than the MB coverage? Do they use aftermarket parts? Do they try to repair parts or use rebuilt parts the MB coverage would replace with new? Do they have any kind of limit on where you can have the repair done?

Those would be the areas I would suspect the differences were. I'm not certain but I believe the MB coverage would cover having all repairs done at the dealer.
