Possible Transmission Problem?

2003 E500 Sport
120k miles

For 2 weeks whenever I would accelerate I would feel vibrations between 1500 RPM and 2000 RPM. The vibrations felt like a wheel was out of alignment. The vibrations were brief. They only happened for about 1 second. The vibrations happened most when driving uphill (such as highway off ramp). No vibrations while coasting. Automatic shifting was smooth and operated normally. Tapping the shifter left or right changed speeds smoothly and operated normally. Everything appeared fine except for the slight vibration.

Last weekend, I stopped at a traffic light after driving on a highway for about 20 minutes. When the light turned green, I took my foot off the brake and put it on the gas pedal and pressed down and the car did not move. I gave it more gas and the car did not accelerate. I rolled the car to side of the road to do more testing. I turned the car off and on again and the car would start up fine and the engine would run fine, but I could not shift into gear. I could not shift into drive, into reverse. I could only shift into park and neutral. I tried turning off the car and turning on the car several times. It was like the engine was disconnected from the transmission. I have never seen anything like this.

Any ideas? Is my transmission gone? Thanks.
