I got my first MB, a 1969 silver 230 for my 16th birthday. My father was sort of in the business, he would later bring over cars from Germany during the "Grey Market". I didn't know how to drive that well so I didn't have it very long.
I purchased a Navy Blue 240 D (US) from my Dad's leasing company. Can't remember the year but that car saved my life! It had 240,000 miles on it before a dodo hit me after making a left turn without looking. Totaled the car but I lived to tell the story.
Then onto 2 190 E's. I desperately wanted a 190 D but there were none on the planet or here in the US. Both pooped out after hitting 100,000 miles and I had just finished paying for them. Both Dealer cars.
I almost swore against gas cars after that but I then bought my 99 C230. This will be the last gas car if it doesn't live up to my expectations. For the most part it has thank goodness and it only has 90,000 + miles on it. This was also purchased at the dealer. Only 20,000 miles on it and one owner when I succumbed to it. At the advice of my friend at the dealer, I bought an extended 5 year warranty with it which was the smartest thing I ever did. If it is not a diesel it will eat you out of house and home.
I hope my next car (and last) is a C280 D 4matic. All of my wishes finally came true. A diesel that is a 4matic. What else could a girl wish for.
