Hello from Orlando, FL
98 c230 owner with 120k, 2nd owner. 3rd was only for a month. Was going to sell her but I couldn't. Great gas mileage and runs great. Had her two years. I've fixed the little springs on the tranny, replaced ac compressor, put two alternators in as well as a battery. I've replace the serpentine belt, added new tires this week. All the plastic inside is brittle and deteriorating (sunroof plastic, dash tweeter grills, rear speaker grills, etc), speakers shot and radio lcd illegible. Headliner has been replaced but shotty...will likely replace again. Both front seatbelt trims are broke (panel between doors). I can't find out what these are called yet. Have about $500 in minor parts for function and asthetics that I've found online but haven't yet found an all inclusive source for parts. Any help on that would me much apprciated. I plan on spending a couple hundred a month on her until I'm happy with everything inside and out. I paid $4800 at 105k and it appears to be worth at least that still. I'll probably paint her as clearcoat started peeling last year and I've noticed a few small rust spots, add a custom stereo, tint the windows, and redo the headliner and damaged interior plastic for comfort and appearance. Mechanically, I want to change plugs and wires, consider seafoam induction cleaning?, replace tranny electical plug that i should have done the first time as it has leaked ever since. I might need to replace tensioner as well because I have a slight rattle under the hood. Just noticed that gooseneck is leaking coolant too so I'll have to look into that. I really can't complain. I was looking at leasing a new sonata for 260 a month and opted for my 98 free-and-clear Benz. It's just a great car and still feels new.
I've been here before over the last few years. I'm glad to finally commit to keeping her and becoming a member.
