when you put the key in the vehicle, do you hear a "ZIIPP" noise?? Like a little electric motor working? If you don't hear it, then it could be your steering lock. Before you try that, check with your spare key. If the spare key works, then your first key is no good and has to be replaced. If there is no change with both keys, then probably it is a steering lock (hence if you do not hear any electric motor working).

You will have to go to your local MB dealer and have it replaced there. That part is considered a Theft Relevant Part and it is not really for sale for the public. You will also be required to bring certain original documentation to proof that the vehicle is yours. You will also need a workshop key to activate the new steering lock and the entire steering column has to be removed. Also, you will need access to Star Diagnosis equipment. The best is to pay the dealer and you will also have parts and labor warranty.
