How compatible are w126 Mercedes?

Hey Guys,

I have a 560sel, and need some parts. I found a 300se, how compatible are different w126? I know the engine is completely different, but what about the exterior and tranny?

I'm no pro, but I'd say no way on the tranny... and the 560 should have slightly larger fender flares, and since the 300 is a short wheelbase, I don't think much will be the same.

Hey thanks for the quick reply!

That is exactly what i needed to know... I was curious about the wheelbase.

Should I just look for a 560sel? Or is any sel the same body wise?

Thanks again

the 560's are the only ones with the slightly larger fender flares, and if you need a transmission it will most likely have to be from a 560. Other stuff should be mostly the same with all lwb models... with the exception of engine, fuel injection stuff, etc. So yes, you would probably be best off looking for another 560.

oh and if you're worried about interiors at all... Just make sure it has the same pattern on the leather. Somewhere around MY '88 and before was a "tuck and roll" style, and yours, if I'm not mistaken, should be the more modern looking updated style.
