Hello! My name is Crystal...and I am a newbie!

I'm feeling a little like I am in a _____ Anonymous group right now! I just bought a 2000 MBZ SLK230 and I am LOVING it! My 1st Mercedes. I've had it less than 24 hours and am still learning about all the options. I am very much looking forward to the forums or any help anyone could give!

Welcome! You will find valuable info on this site. I also use MBWORLD.org. Both sites have great MB information. Enjoy your first Benz. You will not be disappointed!

Very clean looking car, good pick. Enjoy your ride and remember, after getting used to your ride, everything else feels like an ox cart...

Cheers

Thanks guys! Looking forward to utilizing all the info on this site. The best one so far: Check engine light goes off after cleaning the gas cap gasket and placing a VERY thin layer of grease to help the seal. Saved me about $250! HA

The gas cap is a fairly common cause of a check engine light. If it does not seal properly it will allow air into the sealed system and create a fault code on the EVAP system. I have seen many where the fuel attendant has not put the cap on properly, this makes owners a little angry when they have to pay for diagnostics and find out it was only a badly fitted cap.

Went to get emissions test and failed with a P1236(No Description Available) and a P0341 (Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 or Single Sensor(3)". I haven't noticed any spitting/sputtering and my CHECK ENGINE light went off after cleaning the gas cap. I am taking it in for a "B" service in the morning. Own a Mercedes? Maintain a Mercedes!

P1236 Compressor output stage magnetic coupling, they will need to check this one.
