1986 420 SEL will not crank even after replacing starter
Hello. This is my first post, so please bear with me. I bought an 86 420 SEL with 128,000 miles on it. I was told it just needed a starter, so following directions I found here, I dropped the exhause and replaced the starter. Even with the new starter it will not crank. I hear a "chook" sound when I turn the key as though the starter is engaging, but not cranking at all. Does this mean the engine is seized?
Just so you know, I'm not a mechanic or even very knowledgable about cars, but I've been able to effect some pretty involved repairs thanks to google and forums.
Thanks in advance for your help.
