I purchased a 2008 ML320CDI that was CPO. The vehicle was purchased in March 2012 so it is still under the CPO warranty. I took the car in for front end noise above 30mph, I have put 11,000 miles on the car and had the tires rotated at the 6,,500 mile point. The dealership notified me the tires were severely cupped and that was the noise issue. I complained that tires (they were new at purchase) just don't cup, there is a suspension issue. I had the dealership check the suspension components??? and replace the tires (4) and do an alignment. Upon picking the car up I was told suspension was good but the alignment was out and ride height was low. The problem is solved according to the dealership. I was not so sure about the problem being solved so I contacted MBUSA Customer Care. After a week of back and forth the service manager offered to do a second alignment and to reinspect the suspension components. The car had 220 miles on it since the previous alignment. The findings from the report:
Inspected wheels/tires, steering and suspension components. No faults found. Performed wheel alignment check, front ride height is too low. Measured at 6 degrees and below the spec of 9 degrees +/-1.3. R&R front wheels. R&R front struts. R&R front spring and installed 20mm of shims to correct ride height. Performed wheel alignment check. Ride height correct. Adjusted rear camber angle. Adjusted rear toe. Adjusted front toe. After repair, adjusted headlamp aiming.
When I picked the car up I talked to the service manager and asked for the detailed alignment sheets from The CPO inspection, the tire replacement alignment, and the current alignment. He told me there is no record of a CPO alignment??? I requested a full report of what was done or not done at CPO, the dealer has denied my request and MBUSA tells me that it (CPO) is a dealer issue. Can I get a CPO report from another dealer or should I push MBUSA to get it from the dealer? Thanks
