Switched over to Mercedes

Hello Everyone!

I got a new to me 2002 S500 about a week ago and so far I'm having a blast! Switched over from BMW, and I can say I'm loving it!

I have been going through this forum for the last few days, looking for clues on some mods/changes I'd like to make.

The first thing I wanted was to get bluetooth installed (trying to avoid tickets or causing accidents), but it turns out it is never as simple as we'd like, is it? I went through the Guide on cell phone upgrades (http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html), and as it turns out I would need to get the Bluetooth puck, cradle eliminator cable and a new PSE (checked the trunk and it turns out mine is not blue label after all)... All of a sudden the costs started rising beyond what I had in mind at first (and still leaving me with the outdated NAV, Cassete, no AUX input, etc you get with Command 2.5)... It would be great to have everything showing in the dash, and maintain steering wheel controls though.

As an alternate option, I through of adding a Parrot MKi9200, and found a harness that might work (HF-BNZ-TH1-AMK-AMP4 by Parrot Bluetooth Car Kit in Mercedes Benz Adapters - HFVT).... The page says it is compatible with my 2002 S500, however when you scroll down it says "This harness is not for optical systems" (are there any w220 that do not have the optical connections?). Anyway, I called them and they are not sure either... From the pic on the website, it looks like everything is analog... Has anyone been successful at installing something like this? The added benefit is music streaming through bluetooth from my android phone (can't really remember the last time I used CDs)...

Last option might be to just replace it all with a double DIN GPS unit, replacing the amp as well (would like to keep the factory BOSE speakers through.... I have been also looking at this option (I have checked a few ones done by other members like Lu Scola (http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ouble-din.html) and electronbee (http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...nd-system.html), amongst a few others... They look very cool, but I'm not sure how easy it might be to source out the double din wood dash trim to match mine well (I certainly do not think I can make one like Lu Scola did).

I don't think I'd like to do a "mild upgrade" to the 03 command 2.0 (while it looks great (stock look, everything integrated properly), as it would not solve the bluetooth issue, etc.

Anyway, that's what I got so far.... Hoping to hear from all of you, and I hope I can contribute to this great forum!
