Looking for a late '90's S class
Just joined forum and wanted to say hello. I have a 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo as a daily driver but I have a problem. The car is rare, I keep it in mint condition, people pull me over asking me if I want to sell it. It just attracts way too much attention.
I have always loved and wanted a late 90's S class two door or 4 door. I know they are complicated and over engineered machines. But I see many advertized for between $6,500 to about 10K. Most of them have around 90-100k miles. I saw a 95cl at North Jersey Auto mall with 44k miles for about 12k dollars. Currently I am looking at a grey/silver '99 S320 and the dealer BM auto in NJ wants around $6500. I just don't know what to do. Spend more money on a car with less miles, or less money on a car with more miles. The carfax looks good. One owner. Seems to be maintained well in California and was sold at an auction. I have seen pics of the car and it's looks practically showroom inside and out. But I can't get my mechanic to go to jersey. I might have to find a MB dealer in the area and have a mechanic look at the car. Like I said carfax looks good, totally clean. If there was an accident it was not reported. But I need to give the car a good once over by someone who knows what to look for. I know these cars can have problems with suspension components(bushings, control arms because of weight), engine and tranny problems if the fluid is not replaced. These are great cars, but like a fine swiss watch need to be carefully maintained. I could just buy the car and get a two or four year warranty covering everything and take my chances. Check out BM motors NJ. Under inventory look for S320 for $6500. You can click on the carfax and take a look. Curious what you guys think. North Jersey automall seems to be a bit more expensive. Maybe they get better cars. But BM seems legit. Curious what your experiences have been when looking for a late model S class. I want to put my Supra in storage and use the panzer as a daily driver, and it is a car I have wanted for a long time. Also, I think it blows away the new models. Just my opinion, but I think the w140 is the last of the "real" MB before they cheapened them up.
