34.5 MPG, is that normal ?

I just completed a weekend roundtrip from East Brunswick, NJ to Verona, NY...600 miles in my 2009 MB C300 Sport. I set the cruise control to 72 MPH and the tach locked in at about 2,100 RPM.

My Baby Benz averaged 34.5 MPG with a fully loaded trunk and no pasengers. It was the Garden State Parkway and NY Thruway for almost the entire trip. I don't do much long distance driving, so I was wondering if this kind of highway mileage is typical. Normally, I have a fairly light foot on the gas and average about 27 MPG overall.

New cars do have better and better economy. I was getting over 40 mpg on 2005 E320cdi even driving at higher speeds. That was on freeway with no left lane idiots, what is harder and harder to find and those idiots usually cost me about 20% higher fuel consumption in CA.

Did you reset it while in motion at 70 MPH? If I do that I'll average about what you get, but if you reset while stopped, then accelerate onto the freeway it makes a huge difference overall. It also depends on how much of your trip was down hill.

I believe it. I know that highway on I-90 West to Vernona. Let me guess? You went to Turning Stone? I have made that trip before in my W203 and got 29.4 MPG and that was with 4Matic too Its pretty flat and a boaring drive out that way.
