I have driven my 450 back home from california 2 years ago, during that trip the engine started to ping. Noticed warm engine start problems, little tranny slip,,other minor things.
Upgrades in the last 2 years include,
rebuilt fuel dist
new fuel pump
rebuilt master cylinder
overhaul top end, didnt eliminate ping, just changed noise
new pass side cam,
new coolant res, she runs pretty hot...
about to replace with new fuel pressure regulator (accumulator)
new master vac line
asst hoses etc,, rubber parts
condensor line, plugs, wires
new coil and comp, dang mice nested and ate some wires in cali and shorted out some stuff...
would like to be doing this spring,
new or recore rad
top end work to eliminate ping
vac line upgrade, most things past the firewall do not operate, ie, heat, (fan ok), locks, trunk lock, etc...
like to find original red paint, for minor touchups..
short in pass side fog light
find becker "mexico" with Ipod input
looking for earlier exhaust manifolds, to get the cats outta the engine bay
would greatly appreciate help to find a GOOD mechanic that will eliminate the ping instead of adding parts that do not fix it...lol.

advise on tranny slip under accelleration,, am going to check levels etc... new vs recored rad, original rad prob clogged,,
best routine to start getting the vac line sys opperational...
I have read where people have suggested shims for the ping noise however every mechanic I have talked with act like it is not an option...
Been speaking with Lou in Toronto 50 year mb mechanic, and melons in Oakville, also long time MB mech.
