Hello Folks,Well I must admit that I finally bit the bullet.I sold my beloved 91' 500sl and ventured into the exotic world of the famed 600 class. My new baby is a 96' SL600 black, full AMG Body kit with two tone gray/olive interior.I must say that I was crazy about my 500sl but this SL600 is truly a classic to behold. The structural intergrity of the car and the smoothness and power of the V12 engine is intoxicating.I did alot of research on which year to get till I finally decided on the 96-98 year models which were rated highly dependable. This car runs so smooth that at idle my wife thinks the car is running on electric because she can barely hear the engine running.lol!!
Anyway I will be posting some pix soon,However I have a weird thing that I am experiencing. When I purchased the car the dealer advised me that the car needed one ignition coil changed.I spoke to the mechanic that serviced the vehicle and he confirmed that was the only thing that needed attention.I checked with my local mercedes dealer for pricing and picked up one for $85.Got the car transported from Florida to my neck of the woods and changed the coil.Car runs smooth as silk. One thing that I noticed is that occasional when the car warms up and I start the car, the idle just like any normal car will rise to about 1200rpm them drop quickly to the factory set idle of 600-650rpm. What I noticed is occasional on startup when warm the idle will start at 1200prm then drop as expected but will go down to about 500rpm but then the engine will immediately correct the idle and bring it back up to 600-650rpm as expected? The car has no issues idling or driving whatsoever.Just this occasional idle drop when starting up warm? I was wondering if any mercedes owners out there experienced this unique situation please chime in? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
