We interrupt this (Autotronic) Transmission
Good day, people of Benzworld! This is my first post, and I thank you in advance for your indulgence.
I'm the owner of a 2006 B-Class (B200) with just over 60K on the clock. Recently, I've been experiencing trouble with my transmission (slipping into Limp Home Mode when cold). After a visit to the dealership, and a bit of research on my part, I've found that they didn't replace the transmission fluid at 40k as they were supposed to. They've just quoted me almost £2000 to repair the problem (eek). My question to you wise folks is twofold:
1 — In your experience, is driving 60k on the same transmission fluid a 'bad thing' (I think I know the answer to this, but humour me anyway)?
2 — Should I be refusing to pay this bill on the basis that their neglect has caused the problem in the first place?
The dealership are, of course, in denial.
I bow to your wisdom, and thank you i advance for any advice you might have
