Mercedes Blue Tech rear ended - amazing

This evening my wife was driving our 2007 E320 Bluetech home from work in Monterey CA and was the front victim of a three car accident.

She called me from the scene and told me the two vehicles behind were badly damaged with their hoods folded up and headlight glass and plastic all over the road.

I asked her how she was and she said she had a sore neck and shoulders but the car was fine. I doubted the car was OK and that she was appeasing me because as a retired County Sheriff I have sure seen my share of fatal and non fatal accidents.

When my wife arrived home the damage was in fact very minimal with a couple of scratches on the rear bumper, the rear trunk hood was fine it open and closed as normal although one of the rear sensors into the bumper was gone and there were some plastic scratches.

Anyway thanks Mercedes I am so pleased that my wife is fine and at least from the surface there appears very minimal damage to this fine automobile.

I sure no what I will replace this great car with when that time arrives !!!

I might spoil your joy a bit by pointing that in the lack of impact absorbing car part, it goes to occupants body.
That is what happen to my wife in ML in similar accidents. Trailer hitch and front body guards could take the rear impact and push 3 cars in front without disabling the car, but her neck did suffer.
Good luck to your wife and send her to a doctor and psychical therapist ASAP.
